ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

An absolutely exquisite choker necklace (or 'dog collar’) from the Art Deco era (most of these date from the earlier Edwardian period, so this one is a relatively rare 1920s-30s example). An articulated platinum diamond plaque glittering with five larger European-cut diamonds, which along with about 90 smaller diamonds total about 9.00 carats. The centerpiece is attached to a one-inch-wide woven seed pearl multi-strand necklace alternating between natural greyish pearls and lustrous cream-rose seed pearls. The platinum clasp is also set with a line of antique-cut diamonds. One can only imagine the spectacular events this necklace attended back in the day!

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
