ABOUT THIS RING

A rare, magnificent and sizable original hardstone cameo and rose-cut diamond ring from the mid-1800s. A radiant classic beauty is captured for all time in white on a pale lavender-blue background with teeny-tiny red speckles on her darker hued hairpiece. The cameo is framed in primitively cut brownish-gray rose-cut diamonds set in silver for a lovely contrasting antique look. A teeny-tiny chip (hardly visible to the naked eye) mars her otherwise perfect Roman nose.

Georgian Jewelry

True antiques, Georgian jewels are the earliest pieces in our collection. Lovely foil-backed stones in mixed-metal settings were made to shine by candlelight over dinner and in the drawing rooms of their genteel wearers. Many pieces were made in memory of loved ones or as “memento mori”—literal reminders of mortality that Georgians saw as sophisticated, rather than morbid. While the delicacy of Georgian era settings has been replaced by more modern methods, the cuts and styles have continued to fascinate jewelry lovers.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
