Main View

This vibrant, early twentieth century Japanese silver cigarette case depicts a scene from the floating world of the Tokugawa era (1615-1867). A geisha, in full kimono, pauses contemplatively over a bridge. The backside of the cigarette case reveals the object of her gaze: a lush river valley. The design is rendered in muted tones of gold and silver and embellished with splashes of bright orange and pastel pink enamel. Stamped 950 silver. Though intended to be used as a cigarette case, the piece can be displayed as beautiful objet in its own right. There is some minor damage from wear.
