Buckle Bracelet
From Antique Jewelry University
Strap and buckle motif executed in metal with a true or false buckle. During Victorian times these bracelets were popular and also called garters. The termination of the strap was often trimmed in fringe and the buckle portion commonly decorated with fine black enamel tracery and often embellished with seed pearls. The buckle bracelet was revived during the 1940's Victorian retrospective and incorporated brick links, channel set rubies and were finished with and without fringe. Victorian style enamel work was revived as well. It was not unusual to find these mid 20th century bracelets with a covered watch under the buckle.
