Benvenutto Cellini was an Italian sculpist and goldsmith who lived from

1500 to 1571. He commisioned work for several popes and royalty, the most famous surving item from his hand is the saliera (salt cellar), now in the Kunsthistorisches museum - Vienna, Austria. He is regarded as the most important renaissance goldsmith.
