Taille d'epargné translated from the French means "saving cut." It is a variation of champlevé that uses engraved lines on metal that are filled with opaque enamel without varying the depth of the lines, like basse taille enameling. This technique was often used to decorate bracelets, watch cases, chatelaines and mourning jewelry.
