Talk:Banjarmasin diamond
from the Antique Jewelry University
Banjarmasin
Tim, My apologies, this story is somewhat unflattering to the Dutch government. Please check my Dutch history and suggest any changes as you may see fit. This diamond has an odd path through history, but at least it still exists, so perhaps you can locate a picture to accompany the story.

Cheers, yet another nice article, weird story isn't it? I wonder what was going on. Why wouldn't anybody buy the rock?
Re: apologies: no worries Mary, patriotism doesn't live here that much, especially not with me. The dutch did some horrible stuff back in the day. The east Indies were only a small part. The so called 'west Indies company' made tons of money by transporting Africans to the America's. You never read about that in the history books though, nono... spices from the east, that's how holland got rich... yeah, right.
I don't get the first sentence of the article. You may want to rephrase that.
Tim
Tim, Is it the Rodney Dangerfield reference you don't get? Or is it something else about the sentence? If it's Rodney - he was a comedian that "got no respect" and was quite famous for it. This is just my attempt a humor in an otherwise somewhat dry account of yet another "famous" diamond.
Let me know... and I'll see what I can do.
Mary
the sentence:
One could rightfully call this product of what is now Indonesia the Rodney Dangerfield of diamonds
it is indonesia the rodney dangerfield of diamonds... ? Doesn't make sense to me.
perhaps: it is the Rodney Dangerfield of Indonesian diamonds
or: It's Indonesia's Rodney Dangerfield in diamond form
the sentence structure doesn't make sense to me and since it's the very first sentence of the article I think we should fix it.
People outside the States aren't going to get the rodney reference, the larger part of our audience is from the states though so if it's hilarious to US peoples you may as well leave it.
Tim
Tim,
First sentence simplified... The Indonesia reference in the second paragraph should cover it - no need to be redundant!
