This exhibition catalogue features the designs and artistry of Italian goldsmith and artist, Andrea Cagnetti, known as the artist Akelo. The classical past breathes again through the golden masterpieces of Akelo, who, through his in-depth studies of ancient texts and ceaseless technical experimentation, recovered the ancient goldsmithing solutions of the Greeks, Etruscans and Romans. This exhibition focuses on Akelo's responses to the classical world in both technique and style. While technical perfection is paramount to Akelo, he balances this with a timeless classicizing language and modern artistic sensibility steeped in the techniques and art of classical jewelry.
