About Christie
Christie was the director of the Center for Jewelry Studies, and the author of Warman's Jewelry, a price and identification guide to 18th, 19th and 20th century jewelry, now in its third edition. An enhanced, color-coded spinoff of the Timeline in Warman’s Jewelry, called Collector’s Timeline, was published in 2004.
Christie was a jewelry historian, researcher, curator, gemologist, lecturer, instructor, consultant and collector. She has teached antique, period and vintage jewelry classes in Southern California since 1988. She was a founding member of the West Coast Chapter of the American Society of Jewelry Historians, and a member of the Society of Jewellery Historians (UK), the Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related Arts (ASJRA), the Costume Society of America (CSA), and the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA). She also participated as an appraiser for PBS' "Antiques Roadshow." Christie lectured internationally at seminars, meetings, conventions, special events, and museums. She was a consultant to estate jewelers, auction houses, dealers, appraisers, and private individuals. She has also written articles for trade and online publications, and has been interviewed by television, radio, magazine, newspaper and Internet journalists. She was a contributing essayist on metalsmithing techniques for the exhibition catalog William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance, published by Harry Abrams in 2002.
Christie resided in Anaheim, California. She was resently co-curating and co-authoring a jewelry and fashion exhibition and catalog for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles CA, called “Adorned: Two Centuries of Jewelry and Dress, c. 1800-2000.” She also teached a jewelry history course for FIDM’s Jewelry Design Department. Sadly, she passed away in September 2009.

In Warman's Jewelry, jewelry historian Christie Romero touches many aspects of jewelry from the late 18th century till the 1970's from a North-American perspective. Most other books covering this period illustrate mainly the high end jewelry as created by the major jewelry houses. Romero however is not afraid to illustrate more common types of jewelry, including average pricing.
