A flush mount is a manner of setting a gemstone, usually a diamond, in a way that the table of the stone is at the same level as the surrounding metal. The stone is placed into a burred hole and the surrounding metal is pressed over the upper girdle facets with a highly polished steel pin. A gypsy ring is set with a gemstone in this manner and this type of setting is hence also referred to as a gypsy setting.
