Specialties

  • The Ballesteros had been silversmiths for generations in Guerreo.
  • Jalil Majul Ballesteros was trained by his Grandfather and godfather in Iguala.

1937

  • Jalil started a small family operation.
  • Produced filigree in the Iguala style.

1941

  • Switched to the style of the other Taxco silversmiths and stopped making filigree.

1950s

  • Began a commercial expansion selling to tourists in their own shops in Mexico City, Acapulco, Puebla and Cuernavaca.
  • Work was farmed out ot small family workshops in Taxco. Tools, model and silver were provided and items were signed Talleres de los Ballesteros.
  • Tourist Shops Throughout Mexico.
