The French restoration is a period following the first French empire. After the exile of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1814, the monarchy of the Bourbons was restored. This period lasted until 1830 but in the history of the arts, the dates (1814-1830) are to be taken loosely. The influence of the French empire style lasted until approximately 1820.
