ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

An especially deep rose-cut diamond pear shape, weighing approximately 1.20 carats, glistens and glows (with much more dispersion than the usual shallow cut variety) from within a traditional foil-backed setting surrounded by a halo of small rose-cut diamonds, in this rare, romantic and enchanting nineteenth century jewel. Crafted in 18K rosy yellow gold, it measures just over 1/2 inch high by just under 1/2 inch wide and hangs from a newer 18 inch darkened silver chain.

Georgian Jewelry

True antiques, Georgian jewels are the earliest pieces in our collection. Lovely foil-backed stones in mixed-metal settings were made to shine by candlelight over dinner and in the drawing rooms of their genteel wearers. Many pieces were made in memory of loved ones or as “memento mori”—literal reminders of mortality that Georgians saw as sophisticated, rather than morbid. While the delicacy of Georgian era settings has been replaced by more modern methods, the cuts and styles have continued to fascinate jewelry lovers.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
