Lapis Lazuli, translated as "blue stone," has such an intense, vivid cobalt blue color that it was powdered to create the ultramarine pigment used by painters prior to the 19th century. And, as this fabulous Art Deco bracelet by Richardson & Co. proves, it is absolutely stunning in jewelry. In this uncommon and ultra-cool Deco design, lapis plaques--deeply carved with a striking foliate motif--alternate with yellow gold links accented with glossy deep blue enamel, each centered with a crisp diamond shape. Love it! In 14K yellow gold, it measures 7 3/4 inches.
