ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

Just over 1 inch long and entirely lovely, this turn-of-the-century charmer by *Brassler of New York culminates in a rich royal purple pear shape amethyst crowned with a golden bow and a tiny twinkler. Sweet, petite and precious.

*Hans Brassler was a wonderfully inventive goldsmith, designer and manufacturing jeweler who created fine jewels and objet d'art during the first half of the 20th century. He was born in Germany, studied jewelry design at the Académie Julian in Paris and is reported to have medalled at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. In 1909 he founded The Brassler Company in Newark, New Jersey where he served as artistic director for the next half-dozen years. During this time he played with the idioms of the Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Beaux Arts and early Art Deco styles to create innovative, original cufflinks, brooches, pendants and other jewels. The breadth and imagination of his work can be seen in the following brief survey of his stickpins. http://www.elegantcufflink.com/Library/Extraordinary-Stickpins-of-Hans-Brassler.php

About Art Nouveau Jewelry

Looking to go organic? Bummed out (with good reason) by the Industrial Revolution, Art Nouveau makers embraced the natural world and a return to the hand-craftsmanship of an earlier time. Their overlap with both the Victorian and Edwardian eras resulted in a great deal of cross-pollination. Though relatively short in its purest form, Art Nouveau’s flowing lines continued to weave their way into fine jewelry.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
