Pinchbeck Necessary Box from a Châtelaine.

Pinchbeck necessary box from a châtelaine with a richly scrolled and foliate frame surrounding classical themes in repoussé. The style is typical for the rococo period of around 1750 with its Louis XIV ear shell scrolls, but it can be easily distinguished by the asymmetrical use of the motifs (which is typical for the Louis XV period).

(part of a complete châtelaine).
