Gold Electroplate

Electroplating involves coating one metal with another through the use of a chemical bath and an electric current. The electric current flows through the chemical solution from an anode (piece of coating metal) to the item to be coated (cathode). Gold electroplate must be a minimum of 7 millionths of an inch of fine gold. When the coating is less than 24 karat the thickness must be proportionately higher.
