Justaucorp, from the French, is a collarless knee-length coat, fitted to the waist and flared below, worn by men during the later part of the seventeenth century and into the early eighteenth century. The justaucorp could be a simple, woolen affair or be made of fine silks and velvets, dressed up by embroidery and even jeweled buttons of such materials as diamonds, gold, silver, and ivory.
