A married jewel or marriage is a jewel that was created in the style – and time – of a specific period and was later altered or upgraded with an add-on from the same or different period. Many jewels from various periods have been melted down to be reworked into new fashions and they are lost for good. A married jewelry item has merely been altered, leaving some of the history of the jewel or jewels preserved.
