A modern diamond cut, the Princess-Cut Diamond is commonly thought of as a square brilliant but this is technically incorrect. Its basic design is quite different from that of a square brilliant and is actually a modern interpretation of the French Cut.

This design emerged in the 1960s and remains a popular cut today.
