ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Scrolls are some of the most satisfying flourishes. Just a couple can add elegance to any piece. Conversely, scrolls layered upon scrolls, with lots of other embellishments in the mix, can create a lavish, highly dimensional work of sculptural art. This Victorian brooch is in the latter category. Hand fabricated in 12K gold with a gorgeous sheen, it is a captivating composition of hand-engraved decorative elements, scrolls, crescents, and exquisitely worked twisted wire, all creating a lush backdrop for a glimmering 6.75 carat aquamarine and the four smaller stones that surround it. A most fabulous flourish for your ensemble. Circa 1859-1875. Total aquamarine weight, 15.75 carats.
