ABOUT THIS BROOCH
In 1348, King Edward III, inspired by the tales of King Arthur and the chivalry of the Knights of the Round Table, established his own group of knights called the Order of the Garter. While male members of the Order wore the garter on their legs, Queen Victoria wore hers on her arm, which was the start of the fashionable trend of the garter as a jewelry motif, symbolizing virtues such as loyalty, protection, strength, and love. This highly dimensional Victorian garter buckle brooch is beautifully hand fabricated in 14K gold with a gleaming satiny finish, its frame accented with a column of shimmering seed pearls. Just right for a modern-day knight. Circa 1875. Condition note: one area has lead solder and a crack in the gold.
