ABOUT THIS BROOCH
This remarkable and sizable (2 3/4 inches across) shell cameo tells quite a tale--if only we knew what it was! (Possibly starring the Greek God *Ares), a lively congregation of naked ancient Romans, plus a cherub and a furry friend, are whiling away the hours on Mount Olympus. Artfully hand carved in translucent sea shell, circa turn-of-the-20th-century, and simply framed in 14K yellow gold.
*In ancient Greek mythology Ares was the god of war. He was one of the 12 major gods believed to live on Mount Olympus. His bird was the vulture, and his animal was the dog. Ares is associated with Mars, the god of war in ancient Roman mythology.Details
