ABOUT THIS BROOCH

A highly distinctive architectural design distinguishes this pair of original Art Deco diamond clips, artfully hand fabricated in platinum - circa 1930. Measuring an eminently wearable 1 inch in both directions, these exotic adornments sparkle throughout with an array of bright white baguette diamonds and small transitional European-cut/round brilliant-cut diamonds for a chic, sophisticated, and stunning effect. 6.00 carats total diamond weight. Reputedly by *Gustav Manz.

*Gustav Manz created jewelry for Tiffany, Cartier, Marcus & Co, Shreve, Crump & Low, Raymond C. Yard, Udall & Ballou, Bailey, Banks & Biddle, J.E. Caldwell, Greenleaf & Crosby, Black, Starr & Frost–Gorham, and other fine retailers. His animal, floral, and archaeological designs were exhibited at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Industrial Art Exhibition in 1924, the House of Jewels at the New York World's Fair in 1939, and other venues. He also produced commemorative medals, bronzes, and ecclesiastical items. His work is represented in the collections of The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Newark Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum (American Wing). A portion of his archive is in the Joseph Downs Collection at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
