ABOUT THIS RING

The finest, rarest and most desirable and collectable blue corundum--Kashmir sapphires--descend from a remote part of the Himalayan Mountains known as the Zanskar range. When the Maharaja of Kashmir heard about this magnificent gem, he posted guards outside of the mines to protect their value. High-quality stones from this locality are extremely rare and production has been very limited. This exceptional 2.62 carat oval stone that centers this ring is about as fine as they come - it has an extraordinary vibrancy, depth of color, and the gorgeous velvety/silky texture that is characteristic of sapphires from Northwest India. In addition to being exceptionally pure, it's glorious color is further accentuated on each side by a sparkling, bright-white antique oval diamond - together weighing 1.40 carats. An utterly ravishing and remarkable beauty. Hand fabricated in 18K gold - circa 1880-1900. *We have not repolished the century-plus old gemstone, but will be happy to upon the request of the new owner. Accompanied by gemological report from the AGL stating: No Gemological Evidence of Heat - Kashmir origin. Currently ring size 7.

About Victorian Jewelry

The eclectic Victorians didn’t limit themselves when it came to motifs and themes—if it struck their fancy, they turned it into jewelry. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
