ABOUT THIS BROOCH

Tall fish tales are a time-honored tradition. This eye-catching marlin tells its own story. Crafted in highly polished 18K gold, its sweeping fins and tail contrast vividly with a body of gleaming cobalt blue lapis, remarkably similar in color to the strikingly beautiful actual blue marlins that navigate the far reaches of the sea. The similarities end there, as this one has a head studded with glittering round brilliant-cut diamonds and a tiny ruby eye. Marlins are known to put up quite the fight when hooked—don’t let this be the one that got away. Total diamond weight, .32 carat. In 18K gold, it measures 1 1/8 by 3 1/2 inches.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
