ABOUT THIS BROOCH

A classic, curvaceous turn-of-the-century design has been faithfully replicated in gleaming 14K white gold in this glittering diamond studded stunner, packed with 2.20 carats of bright white and sparkling round brilliant and single-cut diamonds. The centerpiece measures 2 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide. The initials 'KGJ" indicate Kurt Goldschmidt Jewelers. The following is taken from their website: "Since its inception, the jewelry manufacturing firm of K. Goldschmidt Jewelers, Inc. has been renown for fine-quality, antique style jewelry. The company was founded in 1940 by Kurt Goldschmidt who, two years earlier, had emigrated from Germany where he was trained as a jeweler. Goldschmidt started out specializing in the repair of antique jewelry. He found himself attracted to the style and designs of the pieces he worked with and began to accurately reproduce them. Kurt’s two sons Henry and Herbert, who grew up in the business, later joined the company. As the company continued to grow and thrive, we moved from the Bowery to our present location on 47th Street in New York City. Today, three generations of Goldschmidts later, our company is still dedicated to creating the finest quality antique style jewelry. Herbert’s son David and Henry’s son Richard now own the company and maintain its fine traditions. Many of the pieces in the K. Goldschmidt collection are manufactured using the same tools and techniques that were used decades ago. Our styling is classic in its design."

About Edwardian Jewelry

Edwardians took the dark beauty of Victorian jewelry and dyed it platinum blonde. Light and airy filigree, worked with intricate millegrain and detailed designs in that durable metal, was liberally set with the “white” stones—pearls and diamonds chief among them. The Victorians’ sense of whimsy and beloved yellow gold didn’t disappear completely, though, even as the Edwardian era made way for the further-streamlined Art Deco.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
