The common buckle--so utilitarian and yet it provides such opportunity for accessorizing. In Victorian times, buckles were a necessary element on the cloth belts required for the cinched waistlines of ladies' dresses, and not so necessary as adornment for the shoes of well-dressed gentlemen. The buckle was also a common motif for jewelry. This one, rather simple in design, is accented with a single sparkling old mine-cut diamond set between cherry-colored rubies on a "strap" embellished above and beneath with a coin-edged trim. Great form, great function--fabulous! Hand fabricated in 18K rosy-yellow gold, currently ring size 6 1/4.
