ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Once the Egyptian tombs were opened in the late 19th century Egyptian revival jewelry became the rage. This lovely brooch is set with a carved green stone scarab beetle (possibly an ancient relic) framed by graceful papyrus flowers and buds crafted of plique-a-jour blue to green transparent glass enamel. Three tiny seed pearls are set in an arch across the top and an aventurine drop is suspended from below. This brooch measures 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches.
