Art Nouveau Medallion Brooch en Habille, by Vernier
$1,450.00

Although usually attributed to cameo portraits, en habille (the French term for being dressed), aptly describes this exquisitely hand-finished pin, by renowned medalist Émile Séraphin Vernier*, which highlights an Art Nouveau beauty "dressed" with a necklace of twinkling rose-cut diamonds, set against a background adorned on each side with a diamond-centered flower. Die-struck in warmly burnished 18K yellow gold, it measures 1 3/8 inches by 1 3/16 inches.

*Émile Séraphin Vernier was a medalist who participated in most of the exhibitions in the late 1800s. He was one of the first artists to re-imagine medals as jewelry.
