.49 Carat Diamond and Palladium Engagement Ring - circa 1940s

ABOUT THIS RING
A beautiful, bright and shining European-cut diamond, weighing just one point shy of half-a-carat, sparkles solo from within an artfully sculpted 'illusion' setting, lending extra perceived dimension to the outline of the diamond. The diamond is supported by a three-sided embossed ring shank in this classic vintage solitaire engagement ring, crafted in palladium - a wartime (WWII) substitute for platinum, a strategic metal which was needed for the war effort. A radiant rarity.
