ABOUT THIS BROOCH
In The Language of Flowers, Symbols and Myths, the rose is described as "...a paragon of virtue; beauty and fragrance; the queen of flowers..." This beautifully fashioned brooch is a delightful representation of the beloved bloom. A carved coral rose in variegated hues of creamy white and soft pinkish-peach is supported by a slender gold stem bearing shimmering and realistically rendered hand-engraved gold leaves, while a single pearl adds a luminous element of surprise. Hand fabricated in 14K gold, circa early-20th century, it measures 1 1/2 by 1 1/4 inches.
