ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Shakudo is was a Japanese method of alloying metals to produce different colors for ornamental purposes. In this brooch, we have a realistically rendered suzumushi, or bell cricket with a small gourd. The evening song of the bell cricket is poetically revered in Japan and the image is often used to symbolize the nostalgia of summer.
