ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

Hmm, some museum somewhere is missing one of its most beautiful and stunning pieces-- this extraordinary Victorian locket necklace, circa 1897, is a rare and remarkable work of art--a true masterpiece. The elaborately designed pendant is centered by a deep cobalt blue enamel cabochon--accented with a glittering star of rose-cut diamonds--and opulently adorned around its perimeter with lustrous pearls and trios of glittering rose-cut diamonds, all set against a pattern rendered in blue and bright gold enamel. Its reverse side features a hand painted miniature portrait of a little cherub, encircled by sweet necklace of seed pearls and a gold frame engraved with, "Always Dear." A natural Baroque pearl dangles below and the entire captivating creation suspends from strands of tiny seed pearls twisted with a strand of lapis and gold beads that culminate in intricately engraved end caps rimmed with glinting single cut diamonds. Where to hang it? Your neck, of course! Total diamond weight, 1.07 carats. Measures 26 1/2 inches, drop measures 2 3/4 inches.

About Victorian Jewelry

The eclectic Victorians didn’t limit themselves when it came to motifs and themes—if it struck their fancy, they turned it into jewelry. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
