Colombian emerald mines have, and still do, produce some of the most magnificent specimens of this glorious gem. In addition to its vibrant bluish-green hue, the glistening 1.50 carat stone that glows at the center of this original Art Deco-era jewel also exhibits a rare and remarkable phenomenon that usually occurs only in the finest emeralds. Known as gota de aceite, Spanish for 'drop of oil,' irregularities in the internal structure of the stone produce a dispersion of light that creates a subtle soft appearance reminiscent of honey or oil (it has also been called the 'butterfly effect'). As is fitting for such a special gem, it is beautifully enhanced all around by a frame of bright-white, glittering European cut diamonds, and by trios of graduated bezel-set stones on each side that extend to the shimmering split shank. A truly exquisite treasure. Total diamond weight, .95 carat. Hand fabricated in platinum, currently ring size 6 1/2. Accompanied by a gemological report from the GIA stating: Clarity enhanced. Colombia - origin. Gote de Aciete effect.

About Art Deco Jewelry
Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.
As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
