ABOUT THIS JEWELRY

Although there are endless choices for stylish eye wear these days, in the Victorian era glasses were seen as a sign of old age or ill health. An unappealing perception for fashionable women at the time, they used lorgnettes instead. Infinitely more chic than readers, they not only magnified text but made for some breathtaking jewelry. This one, masterfully hand fabricated in platinum, shimmers all over with bright-white European, Swiss, and single-cut diamonds, is pierced to create lovely scroll and foliate designs, and features striking dashes of onyx. A single .38 carat European-cut diamond shines in the center of this fabulous double-duty accessory which suspends from a rare, original 25 inch (plus 2 inch) chain composed of fancy filigreed navette and diamond-set lozenge shape links. A fabulous flapper-esque Jazz Age jewel - circa 1920.

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
