ABOUT THIS BROOCH

An intriguing and exotic brooch from the early Art Deco era, circa 1915-1920. Hand-fabricated in platinum over 18K gold (most likely from France), it has a curvaceous silhouette and features diamond-set scrolls and vines that surround, in throne-like manner, a blue-and-gold-enameled glass Buddha. Calibre synthetic sapphires* add glimmering color to this captivating—and enlightening—conversation piece. Total diamond weight: .45 carat. *Original to the piece and period, synthetic sapphires were used for their color consistency and flawless clarity.

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
