Art Deco Diamond and *Sapphire Octagonal Ring
10-1-13458
ABOUT THIS RING
This fabulous finger-hugger, hand fabricated in platinum during the zenith of the Art Deco period - circa 1925 - sparkles front and center with a bright-white European-cut diamond weighing .58 carat. The scintillating stone is presented within an octagonal frame accented with a small transitional European-cut diamond on each corner, interspersed with floating, bezel-set, trapezoid *synthetic sapphires. Delicate milgraining and hand pierced acanthus leaf shoulders, followed by hand engraving on the upper ring shank, add the finishing touches to this strikingly stunning original Jazz Age jewel. Total diamond weight, .91 carat. Currently ring size 5. *Back in the day, circa 1920s-30s, due to their color consistency and flawless clarity, synthetic sapphires were considered a modern improvement over their natural counterparts, besides the fact that the virtually undetectable differences are only discernible with a microscope.
