Art Deco Diamond and *Sapphire Ring
ABOUT THIS RING
Vibrant, glimmering cobalt blue synthetic sapphire rays create a fabulous frame of color around a brilliant, icy-white European-cut diamond, in this artfully designed Art Deco jewel. In bright contrast, the striking composition is enhanced north and south by a scalloped design set with glittering round diamonds. Tapered shoulders with a subtle ribbed decoration, and milgrain edging add the finishing details. Hand fabricated in platinum, circa 1930, currently ring size 8. Condition note: two sapphires have a chip. *Back in the day, circa 1920s-30s, due to their uniformity of color and flawless clarity, synthetic sapphires were considered a modern improvement over their natural counterparts. The virtually undetectable differences are only discernible with a microscope.
