ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

High-Art Deco artistry extraordinaire. This rock crystal pendant, a popular neck adornment during the roaring '20s, is elevated to the level of a masterpiece in this sublime jewel by the venerable American jeweler J.E. Caldwell of Philadelphia. A clear rock crystal plaque, finely carved on the reverse with a textured 'X,' and accented by graceful scrollwork, is centered by a sparkling, clear 2.65 carat emerald-cut diamond, and surrounded in vivid contrast by royal blue calibre sapphires.* Further framed by exceptionally white single-cut diamonds, the crystal is brightened at each corner with light green emeralds. Embellished above with a diamond-set flourish, the pendant suspends from a 22-inch long-short chain by way of a bail that twinkles with diamonds. A rare and resplendent Jazz Age treasure. Total diamond weight - 3.30 carats, total gemstone weight - .95 carat. Hand fabricated in platinum. Condition note: one small diamond has a chip on the bottom, original to the setting. Accompanied by its original J.E. Caldwell box. *Three of the sapphires are synthetic and are original to the piece. Center diamond graded by Lang's senior gemologist as: H/I - color, VVS2 - clarity.

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
