Art Deco Double-Garnet Filigree Ring by Ostby and Barton
30-1-13471
ABOUT THIS RING
Art Deco jewelers were masters of mixing strong, vibrant colors with light and lacy metal work. Here, two square-cut deep Cabernet-colored garnets--gleaming with fiery sparks--are set on the bias in scroll-decorated frames that crisscross each other, creating a subtle, yet striking, negative space design. The dynamic duo is supported by a fancy filigree gallery and shoulders, while miligrain edging and a ring shank embellished with a foliate motif add the finishing flourishes. By Providence, Rhode Island jeweler Ostby and Barton. Total garnet weight, 1.40 carats. Die-struck in 14K white gold, circa 1930. Currently ring size 6.
