Romancing the stone. Upon falling in love with his mistress—and her perfect lips—King Louis the XV bestowed upon her the title of Marquise de Pompadour and had his royal jeweler cut a diamond that reflected the shape of said lips: the marquise. One such stone shines at the center of the Art Deco bracelet. Luminous and surrounded by bright green emerald glass, it centers links that effervesce with European- and single-cut diamonds, allowing the intrigue of a romantic love story and the ultra-chic aura of the Art Deco era to grace your wrist. Total diamond weight, 6.10 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum, it measures just under 6 1/2 inches.*Back in the day, circa 1920s-30s, due to their uniformity of color and flawless clarity, synthetic and glass stones were considered a modern improvement over their natural counterparts, given that the virtually undetectable differences are only discernible through a high-power microscope.
