Art Deco Onyx, Pearl and Diamond Necklace
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
As different as two colors can be, black and white are always striking when they come together--especially when sparkle and a little shimmer are also in the mix. This exquisite Art Deco jewel, hand fabricated in platinum, circa 1925, has them all. Gleaming black onyx, sleekly sculpted in the shape of an open, slightly flared oval, shines at its center with a 'flower' cluster--a European-cut diamond encircled by single cuts--that dangles from from a column of bezel-set stones. Embellished north and south with decorative elements set with tiny glimmering rose-cut diamonds, the pendant suspends from a fabulous chain of lustrous seed pearls and cylindrical onyx beads by way of a diamond-set connector. A case of opposites attracting--beautifully. Total diamond weight, .70 carat. Chain measures 18 inches. Condition note: onyx has a crack likely original to its making.
