Art Deco Synthetic Sapphire and Diamond Earrings
ABOUT THESE EARRINGS
We seldom offer vintage jewels featuring synthetic gemstones, however, we couldn't resist these rare and striking ear baubles from the 1920s. Eminently wearable with blue satin or blue jeans alike, these original Art Deco-era earrings feature kite-shaped, bezel-set *synthetic sapphires bedecked with ornamental tops of rose-cut diamonds and a synthetic baguette sapphire, all suspended from bezel-set antique cushion-cut diamonds. Total diamond weight for the pair, .35 carat. Total synthetic sapphire weight, 2.04 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum over 14K gold and finished with fine millegrain edging. *Back in the day, circa 1920s-30s, due to their color consistency and flawless clarity, synthetic sapphires were considered a modern improvement over their natural counterparts; besides the fact that the subtle differences are only detectable with a microscope.
