ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

Queen Alexandra, wife of Edward VII, wore them in layers of pearls and diamonds to (very chicly) cover a scar, and en vogue fashionistas of the 1990s slipped much simpler versions around their necks. Chokers have made their mark throughout the centuries, gracing the necks of royals and grunge icons alike. This one, by New York jeweler Theodore B. Starr, hails from the early Art Deco period (circa 1915-1920) and is stunning in its simplicity. Designed in an elegant and enduring style, it features a hand-fabricated, gently curved and exquisitely pierced platinum plaque glittering with icy-white single and European-cut diamonds, creating a striking focal piece that centers a black velvet strap. Perfect for adding a bit of drama between your face and shoulders. Total diamond weight, .85 carat. The ribbon measures 15 inches.

About Art Deco Jewelry

Sleek and modern, Art Deco design brought jewelry into the machine age. Yet these stylish pieces still found room for the fine forms and lines of previous eras within their elegant architecture. In particular, we see many peaceful co-habitations of Edwardian and Art Deco styles together.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
