ABOUT THESE EARRINGS

Fascinating and impressive works of modern art are not found only in museum galleries. We have some for your ears. Architectural in design, a combination of intriguing details coalesce to create these singular jewels from the 1950s-60s Brutalist period. Having a geometric shape with sloping sides--richly textured and punctuated with a random pattern of negative space--these striking hand-engraved earrings, by the increasingly collectable Andrew Grima, gleam with vibrant burnt orange rectangular citrines, each accented on a single angle with shimmering single cut diamonds. Are you ready for your viewing public? Total citrine weight - 2.00 carats, total diamond weight - .28 carat. Hand fabricated in 18K gold.

*Andrew Grima was the most influential jewellery designer of the post-war period. He changed the way people perceived jewellery not just in Britain but around the globe and consequently is widely regarded as the father of modern jewellery. Entirely self-taught, he joined his father-in-law’s jewellery manufacturing business, H.J. Company, in 1946 and immediately set about innovating with new techniques and changing the emphasis from figurative to organic and abstract designs.

About Mid-Century Jewelry

Mid-Century jewelers gave the Victorians a run for their money when it came to variety—with the added bonus of big, bold gems in every shape, size, and color. Themes of previous eras were made fabulous enough to match the optimism of the post-war world. Transitional pieces bridged the gap between the first and second half of the 20th century.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
