ABOUT THIS RING

Exhibiting at Madrid’s 1920 Exposition, Mario Buccellati caught the public's attention when he hurled an expensive compact out a window when a woman asked for a discount, shouting, "I am not a tradesman!" The next day, hundreds flocked to the booth of this unknown jeweler to see his pieces--everything sold. We have a bold and beautiful rare vintage Buccellati bauble. The exquisite textural metal work for which the Italian design house is known is displayed in this bombe ring that glistens with navy blue sapphires in highly dimensional textured settings, creating an effect evocative of a honeycomb. Intricately hand-carved, the side gallery and under galleries resemble elegant reeds, while the sculptural, ornate shoulders lead to a slender fluted shank. Buccellati bellissimo! Total sapphire weight, 5.00 carats. Hand fabricated in 18K yellow and white gold. Currently ring size 6.

About Mid-Century Jewelry

Mid-Century jewelers gave the Victorians a run for their money when it came to variety—with the added bonus of big, bold gems in every shape, size, and color. Themes of previous eras were made fabulous enough to match the optimism of the post-war world. Transitional pieces bridged the gap between the first and second half of the 20th century.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
