ABOUT THIS BROOCH

There was nothing low-key about the 1960s and this groovy brooch is proof of that. A full 3 7/8 inches from the top of its gold head to the bottom of its swirling diamond-set platinum tail (which, by the way, moves), this Bird of Paradise is finely feathered with bright crystalline red pear-shaped rubies and royal blue sapphires in a mix of pear and marquise shapes. No doubt, a pretty song emanates from his diamond-studded throat as he sits perched atop a diamond branch, surveying the scene with his emerald eye. We dig it. Designed and executed in the manner of Pierre Sterlé, but much bolder and colorful than the majority of comps we've seen. Total weight of 118 near-colorless diamonds, 3.35 carats; total ruby weight, 11.00 carats; total sapphire weight 5.25 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum and 18K gold.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
