ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

A strikingly beautiful round pendant locket dating from the turn-of-the-twentieth century. The stunning 1 and 1/4 inch wide keepsake is crafted in 18 karat yellow gold and is emblazoned front and back with a black matte enamel finish. The front of the pendant is overlaid with a graceful platinum wirework design dotted all around and in the center with twenty-one bright-white and sparkling European-cut diamonds. The hallmark shows that it is from an American maker, A. J. Hedges & Co. from Newark, New Jersey. Research shows that in 1919 they made their specialty black mourning goods which this piece could definitely be described as. The black enamel is quite worn, especially on the reverse and a bit on the sides. However, we've decided to leave the piece all original since it really doesn't effect the beauty of the piece when viewed from a polite distance. The 19 inch snake chain is 18k white gold.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
