Edwardian Natural Pearl and Diamond Sautoir Necklace
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
When fashion changed and necklines plunged during the Edwardian and Art Deco eras, little room was left for pins and brooches. Thank goodness that the exquisite sautoir was created to decorate the newly exposed decolletage. This captivating confection is a wondrous weave of luminous natural pearls accented with openwork stations centered by flowers glinting with lively rose-cut diamonds, and culminating in a sexy tassel. A diamond-set clasp adds the finishing flourish. Perfect when you're all dolled up for a night out or when you want to elevate your weekend wear with some fancy flapperesque flair. Fabulous! Hand-fabricated in platinum, circa first decade of the twentieth century, it measures 16 1/2 inches.
